At the start of the second episode of The Price of Smiles, we see a flashback of when Joshua was just a young boy. His Dad, a cadet and leader of the House of Ingram, was a very close friend to the King, Princess Yuki’s father.
Similar to Princess Yuki’s parents, both mother and father of Joshua died when he was still so young.
Once orphaned, Joshua moved permanently into the royal palace. His goal since then has been to protect the princess’s smile.
Joshua and his comrades are fighting the forces of Grandiga Empire.
Princess Yuki is in Soleil; she is still unaware of the war raging on between her nation and the empire.
Lune and Yuni tease Joshua for having a sensitive side.
Joshua’s army is fighting alongside the army of Grad, a bordering town. Both Yuni and Lune are soldiers from Grad. Margrave Girard is the general of the Grad cadets.
Soleil’s trump card is their new chrar development, which greatly increases the strength of their theurgear.
At night, Grad cadets secretly place explosives on the three theurgear’s belonging to Soleil. A traitorous act, indeed.
The empire is invading right now because they want to steel the kingdom’s new chrar.
Girard is betraying Soleil because they desperately need food and resources from the empire.
During the fight, Girard tries to blow up the theurgears that are equipped with the new chrar. Thankfully, Soleil cadets caught the traitors in act, so they were able to remove the explosives before the battle began. Girard is arrested.
In order to defeat the enemy, the cadets plant explosives on the ceiling of the cave. But when they try to detonate them over empire forces, the explosives don’t ignite. Joshua leaps into action and tries to detonate them by hand.
Joshua is successful, but he’s badly wounded in the process. Yuni saves Joshua before the explosions erupt.
Five days later, Miss Layla tells Princess Yuki that they need to visit a different town.
Princess Yuki is really happy and excited because she seldom leaves the capital.
Upon arrival, Princess Yuki is really confused why their shipped and theurgears look battled.
Soleil’s commander meets them outside of the room. What is going on?
Joshua didn’t make it. Joshua died just before Princess Yuki arrived… 😦
At the end of the second episode of The Price of Smiles, we see a meeting between cadets of Grandiga Empire.
And we meet Petty Officer First Class Stella Shining.
