At the start of the second episode of THE PROMISED NEVERLAND, Emma can’t sleep. She keeps dreaming of the monsters that she witnessed at the gate.
Emma is petrified at breakfast, but Norman discreetly tells her to smile. They must act normal so mom doesn’t figure out that it was them who left the bunny doll.
They determine that kids are shipped off depending on their weight, age and brain size. They only have 2 months until the next shipment.
They start to strategize. First step, explore the boundary of the compound.
They find a giant wall that is 2-3 meters thick.
When the kids gather back at the house, one is missing. A little girl is lost in the forest.
Mom opens a compass-looking device and knows where to look. It must be a tracking device, and she’s purposely showing it, so the kid or kids that left the bunny at the gate know that she can track them.
How can they run away and not get tracked?
Emma is stressed, sad, and scared.
Mom shows up behind Emma all of a sudden! Emma is petrified, but tries not to show it.
Emma acts as if nothing was wrong. That was close, too close.
As Norman and Emma walk down stairs, the unthinkable happens: mom asks if they were at the gate last night. Norman and Emma casually answer that they weren’t because it’s against the rules.
Norman and Emma hide bed sheets in a tree by the wall to use for their escape.
Ray found Emma and Norman. He quickly believes their story about mom and the demons.
Emma wants to save all of the children, but Ray says that it would be impossible.
And if they live on a human farm, the outside world must not be friendly towards humans.
Regardless, Emma is adamant about saving everyone. Norman, although he believes it might be impossible too, wants to save everyone for Emma. He likes her, and doesn’t want to see her cry again.
When they return to the orphanage, they find a new little sister, but also a new adult. Or rather, reinforcements to stop them from escaping.
