At the start of the twenty-first episode of the third season of Food Wars (Shokugeki no Soma), the Elite Ten are heavily practicing for their upcoming Team Shokugeki against the rebels.
Meanwhile, Joichiro and Gin are telling Soma and his friends about their time at Totsuki – mainly, Joichiro’s story of competition.
Jin only won about 20 times out of 121 matches with Joichiro.
Both Joichiro and Gin were elected in the Elite Ten early on in their careers at Totsuki.
Azami also lived at Polar Star. He deeply looked up to upperclassman Joichiro.
Joichiro began to walk one step further than Gin and Azami after some time.
Joichiro began to win countless Shokugekis and competitions.
A group of students became mad that Joichiro was being selected for all of these prestigious competitions. They challenged Joichiro to Shokugekis; he agreed, but said he wanted to verse them all on his own.
He didn’t even want Gin or Azami’s help.
Saiba was able to defeat all 50 students. But after that match, no one wanted to challenge him anymore.
In order to feed his hunger for competition, he started entering in more external tournaments.
As Joichiro kept getting further away from his competition, he started to lose his own self along the way. He stopped feeding Shiomi his disgusting creations.
Then on the day of the most important cooking competition, B.L.U.E., Saiba disappeared.
Gin found him in the Shokugeki hall that hosts the Autumn Elections.
The chairman also found Saiba. He told Siaba that he should leave Japan and stop cooking for a while.
Joichiro wonders what he would have done if he had Soma’s tenacity.
Joichiro needs Soma, and Soma needs Joichiro ^.^
