At the start of the seventh episode of Girly Air Force, the Director and Kei are planning for their match against Phantom.

Gripen doesn’t want to lose Kei to Phantom.

The Director told Eagle that Kei loves her ^.^

It’s time for their match. To get an upper edge on Phantom, Kei had their team mechanic put a delay on her simulator’s sensors.

Phantom quickly finds and removes the delayed bug.

Oh no! Due to Phantom’s hacking abilities, Gripen can’t tell where her location is. Gripen passes out from the stress.

 

But Kei takes over and quickly defeats Phantom!

Kei tells Phantom that the delay program was a decoy so she wouldn’t notice that he had the plane’s control system.

Kei and Gripen can’t sleep the night before their attack on Xi.

 

Gripen shows Kei the viper plane, a daughter for an anima that only guards this base’s island.

On their way to the Xi base, Eagle has to leave in order to help another unity that is under attack. Will Phantom, Gripen and Kei be able to beat the Xi with just their two planes?

At the start of the sixth episode of Girly Air Force, the director talks to Kei about Phantom. She thinks differently than Gripen and Eagle about saving humanity.

Kei and Gripen share lunch together.

While having lunch with Minghua, Kei receives an emergency call from Gripen. Kei rushes to the base.

The Xi are building a base just outside of Japan. If they secure the island, it could be detrimental to Japan’s overall safety.

Phantom doesn’t want to have to trust her life and wellbeing to Gripen and Eagle, but she reluctantly agrees to lead their mission.

They head off to the island. Kei asks to speak with Phantom. He asks her how she views humanity. Phantom is willing to let Japan be destroyed if it prolongs her own life and ability to destroy Xi for a longer time.

The Xi launch a new type of missile from the island and use the sun to their advantage – they’re too powerful for the anima!

They retreat and return to the base.

Kei mocks Phantom, he says that Gripen and him could beat Phantom in a match. If they win, Phantom will be forced to help protect Japan. But if she wins, Kei must leave Gripen and become her partner.

At the start of the fifth episode of Girly Air Force, Kei and Gripen are versing Eagle in a practice match. Kei and Gripen lose; Eagle is too quick for them.

Gripen and Eagle are both very competitive.

The Director tells Kei that he needs to train his body to handle 10g’s of force. He’s holding Gripen back right now.

Gripen invites Kei into her girl door room. A few minutes of awkwardness ensues.

Kei notices that Gripen has the same Chinese pilot book that he used to have.

On his way home, he notices that a girl is getting bullied by a guy. Kei intervenes to help her.

After saving her, she surprisingly asks Kei for directions to the air force base.

At the base, there is a new Daughter in blue. The pilot is an anima, and it’s the same girl that Kei had saved the other day! Her name is IMTU.

All three of them are very competitive; they decide to have a practice match to see who’s the best pilot.

IMTU quickly defeats Eagle and Gripen!

Gripen calls out IMTU, saying that she cheated by hacking into the anima data line.

At the start of the fourth episode of Girly Air Force, Kei is introduced to Eagle, an anima just like Gripen.

The next day, Minghua and Kei eat lunch together. But, all of a sudden, a girl rushes underneath their table to hide from men dressed in suits – it’s Eagle!

She informs Kei that Gripen is scheduled to be dismantled later today. As soon as Kei hears this, he rushes out to the base.

Kei finds Gripen in her hideout. She’s sad. Kei tells her that he doesn’t hate her because she’s made out of Xi.

Kei tells Gripen that they can run away together until things cool down at the base. But Gripen receives a phone call – the Xi are coming to fight! They rush over to the headquarters.

While they are talking with the director, the Xi attack the headquarters! It’s settled: Kei will accompany Gripen in the air in order to keep her awake.

But as soon as they in the air, a static interferes with Gripen. She can’t concentrate, so Kei takes over. Kei is able to take down a Xi on his own!

Gripen takes back control. The force is really hard to handle for Kei.

Gripen realizes that she needs Kei to fly. She was born to fly with Kei!

Gripen, Eagle and Kei are able to defeat the Xi!

Before Kei passes out from the stress, he is floating in a dream-like place with Gripen. Is he connected with Gripen and their plane the same way anima are? The director is not sure.

At the start of the third episode of Girly Air Force, Gripen is getting ready for her big test. If Gripen fails the exam, she will be decommissioned.

After Gripen finishes her practice simulation, Kei tries it, too. Unexpectedly, Kei flies better than Gripen!

For the next few days, Kei and Gripen spend time together. The more time that they spend together, the calmer Gripen’s program becomes.

Gripen and Kei eat lunch together at the base’s cafeteria. Gripen gives Kei a thank-you gift. She asks him to open it when he gets home.

Gripen accidentally bumps into the soldiers, and they start to yell at her. Kei rushes to her defense.

The soldiers tell Kei that Anima are made out of broken Xi planes. Gripen, embarrassed, rushes out of the building.

It’s the day of Gripen’s test. Kei, still shocked from yesterday’s events, is not attending her exam.

But as soon as he reads the letter that Gripen had included with the gift, he races to the air force base to support her. She had told Kei the truth in her letter.

 

Kei made it just in time.

Oh no! A Xi suddenly shows up while Gripen is doing her exam. And Gripen falls asleep, she can’t defend herself!

Thankfully, a mysterious, blonde pilot shows up and destroys the Xi fighter.

At the start of the second episode of Girly Air Force, Kei and Minghua bike home after their unexpected, and quite terrifying, “misunderstanding” at the air force base.

Kei will be working part-time at the base going forward.

Kei waits at the entrance of the base to be picked. Anima picks him up!

The two eat lunch together at the cafeteria’s base. Kei notices that all of the other soldiers give Anima a strange stare. Why?

Kei is the first non-Research Society person that Anima has actually talked to!

Anima tells Kei about her relationship to her plane.

More strange stares…

Anima shows Kei her secret spot – an old, abandoned hangar.

Director Yashirodoori calls Anima and tells her that it’s time for her checkups.

Minghua tells Kei that she has to go on a long errand, so Kei better not bring home any girls!

The next day someone knocks on Kei’s door. It’s the Anima from the base!

Kei tells Anima how he has over 100 hours of flying. His mother had taught him how to fly. Anima asks if his mom could also help her learn to fly, but Kei lets her know that his mother passed away.

The two visit a shrine.

Lunch time! Kei and Anima go to a ramen restaurant – Anima’s first time trying ramen and gyoza!

Anima was designed to save humanity.

The two have a fun day together and end their date at the beach during sunset.

But Anima all of sudden collapses and falls asleep!

Director Yashirodoori shows up unexpectedly, and tells Kei that Gripen (Anima) can usually only stay away for 3 hours. But she was able to stay away 10 hours with him today. He also tells Kei that there are multiple Anima, and if Gripen doesn’t learn how to fly soon, she will be canceled!

At the start of the first episode of Girly Air Force, a mysterious looking airplane known as the Xi is attacking a civilian ship! Everyone runs to the nearest emergency boat.

His name is Kei and he is accompanied by a girl. They both escape from the ship before it blows up.

Kei watches as another plane attacks the Xi! It’s colored in a bright red color.

The red plane finishes off the Xi, but it has to have an emergency landing in the ocean.

Kei swims out to the plane in order to make sure the pilot is okay.

The plane’s hatch opens up and Kei finds a young girl inside. And, she kisses him!

Kei remembers his crazy day the next morning. He’s living with the girl from the ship. Her name is Minghua.

Kei and Minghua are very close friends. They are both Chinese refugees living in Japan. During their evacuation from their hometown, Minghua was separated from her parents.

Minghua has been very uptight lately. And when she finds a pamphlet about Japan’s air force academy, she yells against the idea to Kei.

Kei leaves the house to cool off his temper. Outside, he sees the red plane that had saved him! He follows it.

Minghua finds Kei standing outside the air force base. She cries and pleads to Kei to not join as he’s the only person that she knows in Japan. She’s scared and lonely.

But all of a sudden, a black van screeches to a stop and kidnaps them!

Kei wakes up and finds a man pointing a gun at him. The man demands to know who sent Kei and why he was waiting outside their base.

Before the man “shoots,” the red airplane roars its engine.

The lights turn on. The man explains that he was never going to shoot. He just wanted to test the connection between the plane and Kei. Connection?

His name is Director Yashirodoori, and he’s the head of the Special Technology Research Office.

The plane is a Swedish fighter called the JAS39.

And the plane is auto-piloted by an autonomous device called “Anima.”
